MORELLINO DI SCANSANO DOCG

The combination of altitude, south-easterly exposure and the rich volcanic soils of Scansano give life to one of the most individual Italian microclimates.

The town, whose founding dates to the Etruscan era, grew to become an important center in the Middle Ages, and is now internationally renowned for its wine.

The area, notable for its unspoiled nature and rolling hills, lies 150 meters above sea level and only 20 kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea.

These factors led Sandro Chia to purchase an estate in Scansano in 1999 in order to apply the know-how gained in Montalcino with Sangiovese to a new territory in Tuscany.
