Since 1984, the Castello Romitorio winery has been committed to the study, exploration and promotion of Brunello di Montalcino wine. This has been made possible by the work of artist Sandro Chia and his bond with cellar master and local area expert, Franco Martini - a bond which now also exists between Franco’s son, Stefano Martini and Sandro’s son, Filippo Chia.

The Romitorio team works with an intimate knowledge of the area and immense respect for the local heritage and tradition, which express the essence of Brunello di Montalcino. Agricultural practices are low impact, and take into consideration the interaction with the indigenous flora and fauna. Their aim is to capture and develop the subtle nuances that exist in the land and the vines they have the privilege to cultivate.
